Can an STD show up in a urine sample from a kidney infection?
Asked by on
I’m getting a urine sample for a kidney infection and I’m scared an STD or something will show up, please help! I’m only 16 and if my mum finds out I’ve been sexually active with my partner I am dead, by the way it’s only been with one person so don’t start lecturing me please.

Im not sure, but i highly doubt that an STD will show up in that kind of urine sample, my friend had an STD yet thought it was a water infection and got a water sample and the STD did not show up until they did a further test weeks later. Hope this helps xx

Yes, it can unless the urine is extracted from the kidney manually. If you are physically urinating into a cup then yes it will show up in a urine test
