Can you get an STD from masturbating with dirty hands?

Asked by on

If a girl fingers herself without washing her hands, can she get an STD? I am talking about masturbating after doing everyday activities, not sex. For example, if a girl spent the day shopping and then came home and fingered herself without washing her hands at all, is she at risk of an STD? Thanks!

The risk of getting an STD from fingering oneself without washing one's hands is very low. However, it is still possible to contract an STD if the hands have come into contact with bodily fluids from an infected person. For example, if a girl has been shopping and has touched something that has been contaminated with bodily fluids from an infected person, she could potentially contract an STD if she then fingers herself without washing her hands.

It is therefore important to always wash one's hands after coming into contact with any potentially contaminated surfaces.

Additionally, it is important to practice safe sex and use protection when engaging in sexual activities with another person to reduce the risk of contracting an STD.

No you can’t give your self an std from masturbating with your own dirty fingers. The most you could possibly get is a bacterial infection.

Not an STD, no. However, she could certainly give herself a bacterial infection if she sticks dirty fingers inside her vagina or close to her urethra (a UTI could be particularly easy to get this way).

Among all the discussions of STDs, it’s often forgotten that one of the best ways to protect yourself from common infections is to wash your hands before sex.

Good luck!
