How are STD tests performed?
Asked by Your Neighbor on April 20, 2014
I’ve never had an STD test, what do they do for a male? I don’t think I have anything… but want to be sure.
I don’t have a discharge/lumps/bumps or anything….
occasionally it burns when I pee, but im thinking its just frequent bladder infections….

usually from swabs – if you have a discharge they will swab that or if there is a rash/raw looking area they will swab that. Then the swabs are sent to the lab.

It really depends on the STD. Some testing are blood draws, some urine sample, so are swabs, where a q-tip like swab is inserted in the urethra, some are oral swabs.
A full STD screening will get you a little of each-
IF you are unsure, go get tested, the longer you wait the more harm can be done to your body.
