How long can you have an STD without knowing?

I was recently diagnosed with an STD but I have been with one woman over the past 5 years, perhaps longer. Could I have had it this long?

yea, they can go for years without symptoms.
It isn’t uncommon for HIV symptoms to be seen at 10 years after infection too

no way a woman can be a carrier for years and not even know it most of the time there are very few signs a man will see blisters the herps burn like crazy when peeing puss like liquid leaking out going through your under ware even through your pants depending on how long the guy has had the claps if you would of had std for five years your health would be in a very bad condition mainly your organs good luck

You could go an entire lifetime without knowing you’re carrying a STD.
