Syphilis contact blood tongue

Asked by on March 7, 2015

Hello,

Recently I’ve shared this laptop with a girl. I had something itching on my tongue so I went scratching it with my finger.

When I looked at my finger it had blood on it, but not from my tongue. It was from the keys on the laptop which I’ve been using, the girl had a cut on her finger and went away to clean it.

Now I’m worried. Is it possible for Syphilis (or any other std) to be transmitted this way? Because I know she had it in the past and I’m not sure now.

Short Story: I had some of her blood on my finger by touching the laptop keys, and scratched my tongue afterwards with that same finger.

Most blood-borne pathogens, such as HIV, hepatitis, and syphilis, cannot survive outside the body for very long. It is extremely unlikely that you contracted an STD from touching your finger to a small smear of blood on a keyboard and then touching your tongue.
